DESIGNS FEATURING THE SUITE STAY FOUNDERS AND HOSTS OF HGTV’S
“MY HOUSE IS YOUR HOUSE“

About The Suite Stay Design: We think it is really important to draw a distinction between a family’s existence and a retreat for guests. Often we take on projects in which the home we are designing is just as much for our clients use as it is for vacationers and guests. The architecture & design in that context has the opportunity to temporarily completely reframe our existence.

 

Often these properties allow us to spread the design out in a way that is rare in the city or conversely for our mountain or desert properties. We think of these buildings as tools designed to get people to engage the world outside, encouraging people to leave the buildings whenever possible and when not possible to occupy the space of a covered porch, a room filled with windows and light, and only when night falls to bring your body and gaze back indoors to a warm fire. So our projects often focus as much on use and enjoyment of the space outside the home as well as in it. Our view and vantage of having hosted thousands of guests leads us to know how to optimize a space for owners and guests alike.

STEP 1: GETTING STARTED. TOGETHER

At The Suite Stay: Our interior designers transform empty and distressed properties into homes that look both luxurious and vacation rental ready, enticing travelers with style and sophistication that feels just within their reach. With offices in Los Angeles, San Diego, Orange County, and San Francisco, we offer design and staging services that marry the look and feel of your home and community with our touches that are guest appropriate and guest leaning.

Our approach: To design a space with awareness of the people that will fill it, from homeowners to travelers.

At The Suite Staye we specialize in listening to our clients' needs and developing a clear and cohesive vision of their ideal living spaces. Our expertise of the development process allows us to assist in making crucial decisions in a timely manner. We work closely with our network of architects, draftsmen, builders and artisans on projects of all sizes, from new builds to remodels.

The Suite Stay style embraces the best of modern coastal simplicity and casual elegance with touches of mid century elements. We have a love for integrating old-world raw materials with a modern twist. Our goal is to create enduring and livable architecture, capable of inspiration and enjoyment.

In this phase, following an at length discussion, we will submit an informal bid. Following your review of that bid, another discussion can take place to clarify scope. Following that call or meeting, a formal proposal including the bid, scope, project and furnishing budget and design agreement is sent to you. If accepted we move to Step 2.

STEP 2: PROGRAMMING. COLLABORATION.

Programming and collaborating includes our designer doing everything from working with you on determining the look & feel of each room. This involves a combination of staff and designer on site work to walk the space and discuss dimensions, purpose, form, and function.

STEP 3. SCHEMATIC DESIGN PHASE.
BUILDING OUR CONCEPTS

Remember, the concept board is not your final design. It is meant to be a jumping off point for you and our designers once you have entered Design Time!  As we start to make final selections in Step 3, we initiate the sourcing of furnishings*,  making and arranging purchasing/orders, arranging shipment, staging and removal of any current items on site.  

 

Additional scope may also include Project Management in which we oversee on site vendors and third parties, like general subcontractors so we can help control costs, timelines, and the various moving parts of bringing yours and our vision to life.

STEP 4.  RENDERINGS & ELEVATIONS


An add on option, our rendering services can provide either a full home or room-by-room redesign in 3D.  (This is neither necessary or required and is usually reserved for projects with a budget of over $250,000

STEP 5.  THE FINAL TOUCHES

Final touches involve assembly and installation.  This can be arranged to be as close in time as possible but project size depending, and due to various merchandise lead times, can vary dramatically between pieces.  We provide all related services from delivery and receipt, set up, install, trash/haul away.
